Replacement for the K-55, K-55M, and K-55V with smoother response and much less distortion. Also works well in the KLF-20 and KLF-30. We are now including new horn to driver gaskets with these drivers!
This newest 2025 edition A-55G/2.1 improves upon the original A-55G and A-55G/2 with a redesigned diaphragm and internal structure that give it greater power handling ability along with increased reliability and durability while being smoother in frequency response and much less distortion than the K-55 drivers.

I’m still evaluating vs old 1981 K55s. I earlier replaced K77 tweeters with D&E 120s and no longer had a Klipsch “in your face” soundstage. But, I’m not missing all day harshness with some kinds of music. The swap to the A-55 has got the Klipsch soundstage back, I’m assuming modern drivers are better match between both new tweeters and new mids.
Here’s the headline for review, Entire frequency range is now uplifted to my old ears. Bass response is much more punchy than it ever has been, and I’ve been running powered subwoofers as a boost for a long time. I also upgraded crossovers to ALK Universals and mid horns to Fastlanes in 2012.
My recommendation is if you upgrade tweeter drivers, go the extra step and upgrade mid drivers too. My LaScalas have never sounded better. All on an 85 watt very clean amp.
Very easy to install and worked perfectly. Planning to buy the bass replacement speakers soon.
They sound great. Can’t wait to get the tweeters. Then the speakers will be complete with woofer midrange and tweeter upgrades on my 40 year old khorns.
