I bought an old pair of Heresy II's from a local seller. The speakers were not even matching, one being from 1985 and the other from 1987. I replaced the crossovers with Crites "silver" package. I was impressed enough with the upgrade that I wanted new drivers as well. I replaced all three drivers, WOW! That took this speaker from "good" to great. The bass is far more punchy and responsive, the amount of details, sound stage and imaging were all vastly improved. The upgrade turned into a total rebuild of everything but the speaker cabinet (and I plan to do that next). Totally worth it, if you're still pondering and wondering if it is worth it, absolutely. Go for it!
I am the original owner of a pair of Klipsch Heresy 1 speakers. My speakers were quiet for a very long time. One of the woofers was torn. I called Crites and Michael knew exactly what I needed. I am really pleased that my new woofers fit perfectly in the cabinets. I bought a new receiver and hooked up my vintage B&O turntable. My 50-year-old Heresy speakers sound incredible. Thanks Crites. I could not be happier.
There aren't really any other readily available options to upgrade the 12" woofer in the Heresy II that I found, and the price is actually really good from what I saw too. Improved materials, frequency response, and a heavier magnet, this is a worthwhile upgrade. If you want these speakers to last another 40 years, these seems like a no brainer along with titanium mids and tweeters.
